GOD’S BREATH (Issue#4)

“My first breath, huh?” Phinehas marveled in amusement. “That’s hilarious. But who are you really?” He implored further. “You will not believe if I told you son. That however beats the reason why I decided to meet you today. And Oh Boy! How fast can you grow?” The stranger afforded to blurt amidst the tension.

“Okay, how about a name first? Then you could contain the benevolence of mentioning the intent of this mystic visit.” Phinehas came through with an almost irritant tone. “Nothing much. I just came to hand you this” He said rising and handing a golden and smartly embossed envelope to Phinehas who received the envelope in suppressed awe. He smiled and headed for the door, turned back and flashed the divine smile as he said, “Name’s J, simply J. And son, you got my breath.” As he walked out Phinehas suddenly felt the sharp need to ask for his contacts or residential address. Running out of the cabin he fell to the surprising shock of no one in the vicinity. He spent the next hour shouting out “J” throughout the cabin’s neighboring forest unto the distant tarmacked road in vain.

Back to the cabin he opened the envelope, and it read: “Of countless inhalations and exhalations a living being makes, few countable sighs are notable. When the realities of existence beats the logic that you so much believed in and intertwines your feeling and sends south your reasoning, a sigh of sad relief sets. When in array of malice and rebellious response and irrevocably good occurrence sets in to lay plain the mountain of tense struggle, you sigh with relief. When weary and a helping is stretched out to you amidst showers of painful blows, a sigh of finality is breathed. Of these many hopeful sighs, yours is notable. When I breathed into you, I felt different. More power flowed out of me into you. It was not accidental. I never create by accidents. It was for a reason. I gave you much. And to whom much is given, much is expected. You live and exist for a reason. Find it out for yourself and bring it to conclusion. Check behind your grandpa’s portrait. There lies a little hint to guide you through it all.”

This missive made little sense to Phinehas, but it seemed to reach deep into his soul illuminating some facet of his self that he never had discovered. With curiosity getting the better of him, he reached out to the portrait and pulled out a small note, transcribed in similar calligraphy and nothing more than one sentence: “Phinehas, with authority speak and let Winter come soon that warm your spirit may feel warm and bold your advancement may be”.

At this point his mind was tripping him. Whatever the two notes meant he was of least awareness. Whether they were ciphered or not he did not understand. The glowing effect in his heart, somewhere physically in his chest seemed not to stop. He wondered and pondered. He was in shock yet at a point of epiphany the course of which he was furthest oblivious of. He seemed like a campus pointing out to the true North yet unaware of the dynamics of the cardinal points.

He searched his soul for days within the cabin. The fire in his spirit kept burning. He feeling of being sharpened for a sequence of occurrences yet to unveil before him was beginning to manifest though not confirmed. And on the final day at the cabin, at about three O’ Clock in the crack of dawn, Phinehas awoke to an astounding revelation. He so foolishly had experienced a divine visitation without getting the hang of it.

The Stranger was one of the God kind! Yes, and who of the God would make himself flesh and descend into man’s abode just to fulfill a course? And did He say His name was J? Could J be in any way a short form of Jesus? Maybe not…or maybe definitely Yes. This revelation rudely whisked away sleep from Phinehas. Even worse, the knowledge of the fact that He was given a go ahead to be a leader sent shock waves into the nerves he for so long relied on to be strong.

The mere fact that a passion had now turned into a purpose, more so a mandatory obligation laid on his shoulder a heavy load the undertaking of which he was ready to take up. He felt fired up, charged up in as much as he quite did not understand the second part of the letter. But a race, a war and an adventure had just began.
